BLOG: ‘Greek’ needs a new plot
October 20, 2009
Episode eight of “Greek” was full of tired, old story-lines. At this point of the season, I feel irritated. Evan finally fesses up to his fraternity that he’s given up his trust fund, leaving him broke.
With Evan telling Casey what he did, I slowly realized why Cappy, Evan, and Casey’s short flames are so quick to be interested in her over and over again. She’s always feeding lines like “I’m so proud of you” and gives that dazed look with a big smile, which, for me, is Casey’s flirting signature.
Does she do this crap subconsciously? Whatever the writers are trying to get at with her character, I’m getting sick of it. It was fun the last two seasons, but maybe the writers should just choose a main guy for her.
If she’s supposed to be with Cappy, can we stop having episodes where he’s moping around the entire time and just have him be with her? There’s no more suspense, and the whole ‘Dawson and Joey’ from “Dawson’s Creek” doesn’t really play out to well for these two characters, mainly because this is supposed to be a humorous show. Writers need to spice up Casey’s character more.
In previous season’s Casey has been strong and admirable, now it feels as if she’s just Ashleigh’s sidekick. Why did Ashleigh even become president for ZBZ when Casey has obviously always been the right choice?
Ashleigh’s character has also become annoying in the show. She’s always asking for Casey’s help during dilemmas. As a sad attempt to bring the ZBZ house back up on the sorority list, Ashleigh lied to her sisters about having a mixer which would help them become popular again.
Worst of all, Ashleigh bribed the Gamma Phi girls to come to her mixer, just so Omega Chi would come. Of course the plan backfired on Ashleigh when the Gamma Phi president tells the whole party, which was obviously not an accident, during a private conversation between her and Ashleigh.
I’m disgusted that Casey took the fall for Ashleigh because I’m tired of her being Ashleigh’s sidekick. I hate bitchy Ashleigh. I want fun, sweet, carefree Ashleigh back.
