ROUTE: Parking at Sac State still a problem
April 29, 2009
Parking at Sac State is still a problem, even with new parking structure three located out in the boon docks.
I am a theatre student and in the spring of 2007 UTAPS decided to take away all student parking that was located in lot two, outside the Shasta building, which is the building that houses the theatre, dance and speech pathology departments.
Yes, those students can still park in parking lot one, and not have that far of a walk but, the problem with that is that many theatre students are involved in the production every semester and have to walk out to their cars at 11 or 12 at night.
Through demanding efforts of the theatre students that semester they were able to get back 20 parking spaces. Those 20 parking spaces are still there, but they are not enough.
The theatre department alone had about 60 students and that is not including the dance department who also rehearses in Shasta late at night sometimes. There has to be something done for student’s safety before an unfortunate incident occurs. Give back our parking spaces!
