November 14, 2007
The women’s volleyball team dominated against Montana State tonight winning the match 3-1 (34-32, 30-32, 30-20, 30-17).
The win brings the Hornets to 12-2 in the Big Sky Conference, and the team also regained first place of the conference as Portland State fell to Eastern Washington tonight.
Prior to tonight’s match, all five Hornet seniors were honored for being a part of the program. Head coach Debby Colberg was also honored for her part in a 32-year tenure at Sacramento State.
The score was tied 1-1 after the first two games. Sacramento dominated in the third and fourth games as the team posted a .333 hitting percentage. The team started off both the third and fourth games with huge leads, never allowing the Grizzlies to come close.
Senior Missie Stidham and freshman libero Chelsea Goodsell each had five of the Hornets 12 service aces.
Stidham also finished with 23 kills and 18 digs.
The team will play on the road next week taking on Eastern Washington and Portland State.
If Sacramento beats Eastern Washington, they are guaranteed half of the Big Sky’s regular season title.
