The women’s volleyball team continued its winning streak tonight at the Hornets Nest when they dominated in a match against Montana State.

Coming into the match, the Hornets were 10-2 in the Big Sky and Montana State was 0-13. The Hornets beat the Bobcats in a three-game sweep. The win is the ninth consecutive in the Big Sky conference for Sacramento State.

Although the Hornets struggled in the second game, the team was able to pull off the win and limit the Bobcats to a .113 hitting percentage.

In the third game, Hornet defense was powerful, only allowing a .088 hitting percentage from the Bobcats.

The third game was also crucial for Hornet offense. The team hit .485 as a whole and had a total of five service aces for the match.

Playing both offense and defense well, allowed the Hornets to gain a quick advantage on the Bobcats, early in the third game.

Head coach Debby Colberg felt that the team did so well because it managed to keep errors at a low.

“I think that we didn’t make many errors was the most important part. We really played errorless ball,” Colberg said.

The Hornets will play their final home match of the season Saturday night at home. Prior to the game all five seniors and coach Colberg will be honored.

This is Colberg’s 32nd and final season as head coach of the Hornets. She said that the seniors who will be honored will be hard to replace.

“Good hitters like Missie and Lindsay don’t come along very often. I think it will be really hard to replace them,” Colberg said.

The team will take on the Montana Grizzlies. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.
