The Sacramento State women’s volleyball team lost its first match in Big Sky Conference play tonight when it took on Northern Colorado.

In a 3-2 victory, (31-29, 30-26, 26-30, 30-32, 15-10) the Bears gave the Hornets their first loss in 15 matches.

Although the Hornets came out with a loss, the team is still in first place in the Big Sky Conference, one spot ahead of Portland State.

Despite the outcome, senior Missie Stidham still managed to post big numbers for the Hornets both defensively and offensively. Stidham had a .364 hitting percentage and posted a career high in kills (31) and digs (35).

Lindsay Haupt, the senior middle hitter, also worked hard posting 16 kills and a match-high nine blocks.

The Hornets are not up against an easy schedule, taking on Northern Arizona this weekend. The Lumberjacks have won four of their last five matches.

The Hornets are now 21-4 overall and 8-1 in the Big Sky Conference.
