Women’s soccer shutout on road at Fresno State

The women’s soccer team was shutout by Fresno State under the lights of Bulldog Stadium Saturday.
“I knew it was going to be tough,” head coach Karen Hanks said. “Our kids were scared and you could see it.”
The Bulldogs took advantage in the first half, getting off 13 shots and scoring a goal in the in the 29th minute.
“All their shots in the first half were high quality,” Hanks said. “They could’ve been up three nil at the half … (Goalkeeper Stephanie Shaw) came up with some brilliant saves.””
In the second half the Hornets were able to pull together and cut Fresno State’s shots down to seven.
Despite Sac State’s resolve the Bulldogs scored their second goal in the 51st minute to put the game at its final score of 2-0.
“The only way we are going to get better is by playing teams that up there in the polls…,” Hanks said. “
Women’s hoops signs junior college guard
The Sac State women’s basketball team signed junior college transfer Tyeisha Brown, according to a Sac State Sports Information Department press release.Last year at the College of Marin, Brown, a guard, averaged 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals per game and was a first team all-state selection.

Hornet volleyball player Lisa Beauchene earned Big Sky co-Player of the Week for her performance at last week’s Sacramento State Invitational. The Hornets went 2-2.
