A vocal performance is heating up the radio airwaves. Darren Hayes hits all the right notes in his hit single “Insatiable” with style. Hayes takes his soft vocals deeper, singing each note passionately, humming out every sound to its heights.

Performing songs which are much edgier, Hayes in his first solo act redefines his style and talent, cultivated in his former band Savage Garden. The album “Spin,” produced by Walter Afanasieff and co-produced by Hayes, offers more than 60 minutes of 12 refreshing tracks.

The album mixes pop, rock, and contemporary music, emphasizing the instruments that delegate the lyrics. The instruments and the vocals compliment each other, and the drums and electric guitar give the tracks a unique, tasteful sound. Three of tracks, “Insatiable,” “Creeping Up on You,” “Like it or Not” incorporate David Campbell?s orchestra.

Every song on the album is co-written by Hayes, bringing out a sincere and raw emotion in each performance. The vocals in each track of the album are polished precisely, giving a crisp, clean sound.

Although the album debuted at number 35 on the Billboard Charts then dropped to 86 in the second week, “Spin” is full of potential hits such as “I Miss You” and “I Can?t Ever Get Enough of You.”

Producer Afansieff, known for Mariah Carey?s monumental success, is certainly leading Hayes on the right track. Hayes lacks the vocal strength to hit higher notes, which can slow the tempo in his songs. Nevertheless, the album?s originality and creativity is enough to please the ears.
