Executive Vice President Andrea Salas presented to the Associated Students, Inc. a list of proposed amendments and clarifications to the language in the ASI bylaws on Wednesday, March 2.

“Internal Affairs committee met and sorted through the different measures and we’re recommending which one will go to the board and [which one] to the membership,” Salas said.

Six ballot measures are being proposed to be approved by student voters and five measures to be approved by the board members.

One of the proposed ballot measures is a GPA change from 2.0 to 2.5 for members of the appellate council.

Gina Curry, University CFO’s designee, said she agreed with the proposal.

“If the standards for candidates that want to run for office is 2.50, I think we wanted to align with that,” said Melissa Bardo, ASI president.

Other measures include a one that said candidates running for office need to have 45 units for an executive position by the time they take office and a measure that said candidates have to be from the college they ran for when they take office, with the exception of the director of undeclared students.

The five measures proposed to be approved by the board members were believed to be small errors and only in need of language clarifications.

“We need to approve this as soon as possible, so we can start marketing this to students and start showing students these changes,” Salas said.
