Volleyball drop a close match in final frame against Weber State

The Hornets lost a close five set match Thursday against Weber State with a final score of 3-2.
The first set was barely a win for the Wildcats with a score of 26-24. The Hornets hit .152 in this set. With 33 total attacks, the team had ten kills and five errors. Weber State hit .282 with eight errors in this set.
The second set was a win for Sacramento State with a score of 25-21. The squad hit .138 with five errors. The team’s kills and attacks were slightly lowered with 29 total attacks and nine kills. The Wildcats had the match high of ten errors in this set, hitting .133.
Coach Ruben Volta stated that the team did well putting pressure on the opposing team, which created some opportunities for the Hornets and errors for the Wildcats.
“I felt like we blocked the defense pretty well at times and put pressure on them and forced them into a bunch of errors,” Volta said.
The third set was another win for Weber State at 25-21. The Hornet’s hit their lowest at .098 and seven errors. The women had 41 attacks and 11 kills in this set. Weber hit .212 with 14 kills in the third set.
Overall Volta said that the women did not attack well tonight and that was their main problem in the match.
“I just don’t think we hit well all night,” Volta said.
The fourth set was a win for the Hornets at 25-21, pushing them into a five set match. The squad hit their highest in this frame at .286 with their least amount of errors (4). The women also had 12 kills, their highest amount of the match. The Wildcats hit .138 with nine errors.
The fifth set gave the game win to Weber State with a score of 15-12. The Hornets hit their worst of -.043 in this round with only four kills. Weber hit .115 with nine kills.
The Hornets’ current conference record is now 2-11 in the Big Sky, 7-21 overall. The Wildcats are now 3-10 in conference.
