Peak Adventures opens up ropes course for a day
November 13, 2009
The excitement and challenge of following one foot after another on rocks or a tight rope is possible at Sacramento State. Peak Adventures is opening the Challenge Center on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Sac State students and the public are welcome to explore the different challenges available at the center.
Carley Amatisto, junior recreational therapy major and Peak Adventures front desk assistant, said for $5 guests can climb on the cat walk, do a dive from a 40 foot jump, climb on a rock wall, balance on cables.
” A lot of Sac State students do not know about the ropes course,” Amatisto said.
The Challenge Center is between Yosemite hall and the soccer field.
People who register for Open House – Open Climb in Peak Adventure’s office before the start of the event can win two free passes to a trip to the snow. Some snow trips include snow shoeing, cross country skiing or a snowboard class. The Peak Adventures office is attached to the University Union.
Most of the time the challenge course has to be rented out by paying a rental fee. Amatisto said prices vary based on the size of the group and the type of course they plan on doing.
This is the first time Peak Adventures has opened the challenge center for the public.
“People can get a feel for what a Peak Adventures does there,” Amatisto said.
To register people can go to Peak Adventures or call 278-6321.
The minimum age requirement is 8-years-old and anyone from 8 to 13 requires an adult to accompany them. Anyone under 18 must have a parent signature on the waiver.
A handful of nine students have already signed up and others like the idea of checking out the Challenge Center.
“It looks like it would be really cool,” Nick Daher, junior nutrition major, said.
