Let’s hear for the jungle boy

Who is the choreographer for those fight scenes? Because I wouldlike to commend him for those nicely executed scenes with TravisFimmel (Tarzan/John Clayton, Jr). Fimmel, a former Calvin Kleinmodel who has caused traffic congestion in some cities because of aracy underwear ad, makes his acting debut as the lead in”Tarzan”.
This has got to be one of the most exciting new shows thisseason. Judging from the first episode, I guess the WB casting crewhas learned from their “Smallville” success.”Smallville” stars Tom Welling, also a former model, plays a youngSuperman.
The show follows John, who was made an orphan after hisfamily’s plane crashed in the African jungle 20 yearsearlier. Raised by apes and other wild animals, he grew up tobe, well, Tarzan. His billionaire uncle (Mitch Pileggi, “TheX-Files”) finds him and brings him to New York City, becauseit’s “the least I can do for my brother”.John’s father was the head of the Greystoke company until hewas killed because of the plane crash.
The show started with a very nice scene, it was captivating andwanted me to watch more. Just like how a good beginning sceneshould be. Travis Fimmel does a great job with the whole”ape-like” movements when he fights.
But, we have to wonder why he’s fighting those men who look likethey work for the government. Why are they hunting him down? Welearn the answer later on in the show.
John meets Jane Porter, (Sarah Wayne Callies), and is instantlyattracted to her. And vice versa. Jane is a cop already in arelationship, although anyone can tell it’s going throughsome tough times. She is troubled between staying in therelationship and letting it go on further and starting a new onewith John/Tarzan.
After the first half of the show, it gets a little lessintriguing (for me, anyway). It turns into a little more”NYPD Blue” than I’d like. But that’s afirst show for you. Some parts you like, some you don’t.
In the end, this show is one of those shows you’d want towatch more and more of. Although one of the main reasons I wouldwatch it is because of the fighting and the climbing that Tarzandoes throughout the show. It’s great stuff.
