Hornets look to end losing streak Friday

The Sacramento State men’s soccer team will look to end their eight-game winless streak when they take on the Otters of CSU-Monterey Bay at 4 p.m. Friday at Hornet Soccer Field.
The Otters are 4-9-0 this season, including a 1-0 mark in the NAIA’s California Pacific Conference. This past weekend, they put on an unbelievable offensive display at home by beating conference opponent Bethany College 14-0.
The Hornets, on the other hand (or foot), have not been as fortunate as of late on the field or in the net.
Sac State (2-8-1) lost both games this past weekend and has scored only one goal in the past six games. The Hornets fell to 13th-ranked Santa Clara University 2-0 on Sunday and began the weekend with a 6-0 loss to the Dons of the University of San Francisco.
“We’ve been unlucky a little bit,” head coach Michael Linenberger said. “We haven’t been creating an enormous amount of chances, but we have created three or four excellent chances to score. We just have to create the other five to 10 halfway decent chances to score.”
Sophomore midfielder Miguel Ramirez knows that working hard versus the Otters can result in the Hornets snapping their winless and scoreless streaks.”(Goals are) going to come,” Ramirez said. “Every team goes through it. We just have to stay together and work hard.”
