Best Burger
February 7, 2001
A bun and beef. Maybe add some cheddar, perhaps throw in some bacon, but a decent burger, nonetheless, is pretty much a dime a dozen.
An exceptional burger on the other hand, one that makes your mouth water and your stomach growl, is relatively few and far between. Lucky for Sacramento, this phenomenal burger can be found between 17th and J Streets, at a joint called Hamburger Mary?s.
Upon my visit to Hamburger Mary?s, I was greeted by a friendly host who lead me to a soda shop-style booth. Each wall was painted a different color and adorned with an eclectic collection of paintings, ranging from classic art prints to funky and modern paintings. My eyes were initially drawn to the mermaid mannequins hanging from the ceiling before getting to the menu.
The menu, as diverse as the decor, had plenty to choose from. Salads, sandwiches, various appetizers? there were so much to choose from. But I had to try the infamous burger.
Though I narrowed my options down to a single category, a final decision was still difficult to make. Should I get just a traditional burger? Or try the Nacho burge? Or the Guac burger? But what about the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger? My options seemed endless.
The final decision?the Meaty Mushroom burger, and it measured up to every one of my high expectations. The bun was fresh, the meat was tasty and the fries were crisp. What more could you ask for in a burger?
Delectable food at a reasonable price, a fun atmosphere, and service with a smile, make Hamburger Mary?s the perfect place for a burger.
