Women’s soccer falls in playoffs

Keith Reid
December 27, 2000

The 2000 women?s soccer season ended on Thursday as the Hornets traveled to Missoula Montana, and lost to the University of Montana 5-0 in the first round of the Big Sky Conference Championships.

It was the first time since 1997 that Sac State has made the playoffs, however the Grizzlies of Montana proved to be too much as the Hornets couldn?t manage a score against the defending conference champions.

Montana took a 2-0 lead into the second half, led by goals by defender Kerri Houk in the 20th minute and forward Heather Olsen in the 34th minute. Forward Amy Shlatter added two more goals in the second half, and forward Amy Wronski added the final touch.

Sac State finished the season with a 9-6-2 overall record and a Big Sky record of 4-3. Its 34 goals scored this season marks a new program record.
