Junior Wendy Baisdon and sophomores Toni Petersen and Jenny Ball paced the Hornet gymnastics team to a resounding 194.125 to 190.175 win across the causeway against the UC Davis Aggies.

All three won their respective events as Baisdon posted a 9.9 on the uneven bars, Ball hit a 9.675 on the vault, and Petersen shined in the all-around competition with a 38.925.

The Hornets also re-wrote a couple of school records as they shattered their previous high of 48.975 on the floor exercise with a 49.200, and tied their record on the uneven bars with a 49.075 which they set last year.

“This was the second straight meet that we didn?t record a fall,” head coach Kim Hughes said. “It?s good to get the win, but that was the first time that we?ve recorded two meets in a row without a fall.”

The Hornets now turn their attention to their Saturday match-up at Boise State. The meet should be a good test for Hughes? squad, as they head out on the road for the first time this season.

“This will be our first road trip, because we don?t consider Davis a real ?road? game,” said Hughes. “It will also give us a chance to see how we do in front of some out-of-state judges.”
