TCU and South Carolina advanced to the Elite Eight with 10 or more points, but the difference comes down to experience on one of college basketball’s biggest stages.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley is not only familiar with the intensity that comes from being 40 minutes away from a Final Four, but she’s thrived in the pressure.
In six of the past eight seasons, Staley has taken her team to the Final Four, winning three championships, most recently in 2024.
While the Gamecocks look to etch another tally into their storied history, their opponent has their sights on their first Final Four appearance.

TCU reached the Elite Eight last year but fell to Texas 58-47, an experience that head coach Mark Campbell says stays with him and molds the future for his team.
“There’s a healthy amount of pressure that comes with getting to an Elite Eight,” Campbell said. “I am so much more prepared in leading our team. There’s been a lot of wisdom and nuggets.”
The biggest advantage South Carolina has is their experience. While TCU will rely on their star graduate guard Olivia Miles and graduate forward Marta Suarez, who either scored or assisted on all 79 points in their 79-69 win over Virginia.
“It’s kind of one of those pick your poison, but our actions and what we run and how we built this team is to have [Miles] and [Suarez] put a lot of pressure on teams, and they get a high usage rate because of their unique skill sets,” Campbell said.
Both teams take the stage on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Golden 1 Center.
