In this episode of Hive Insider, hosts Samuel Bierdeman, Esmeralda Garcia, Clifton Bullock and Claire Muñoz discuss the news around campus the last two weeks.

They discuss the recent arrest of a student in connection to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer impersonation and the Sankofa Exhibit hosted in Mendocino Hall. The hosts also review the latest in women’s basketball, a new AI concentration and the CalFresh delays impacting students.

Sam Bierdeman, Podcast Staffer

(he/him) Sam Bierdeman is a senior journalism major in his first semester at The State Hornet as a podcast staffer. He likes to listen to music, play video games and talk about sports.

Esmeralda Garcia, Podcast Staffer

(she/her) Esmeralda Garcia is a junior transfer and journalism major at Sacramento State. This is her first semester at The State Hornet, and she has journalistic interests in environmentalism, social justice, culture and the arts. She hopes to get a master’s degree in either English or Journalism in the future. Outside of journalism, she enjoys creative writing, reading, drawing and the outdoors.

Clifton Bullock III, Podcast Staffer

(he/him) Clifton Bullock III is a senior journalism major, at his third and final college. He completed his first year at Sacramento State and is on his second semester at The State Hornet. He was born in Washington, D.C. but moved a lot. He loves sports and represents many teams; baseball is his favorite. He has some experience editing and interviewing people. A dream he wants to achieve later in his career is covering his favorite sports team or working at a big sports industry like ESPN or WWE. His favorite food is ramen and he can eat it all day.

Claire Muñoz, Social Media Staffer

(she/her) Claire Muñoz is a second-year double majoring in graphic design and journalism. This is her first semester in The State Hornet, and she is excited to share what the Sacramento region has to offer through The State Hornet’s social media platforms. She is also currently a design and social media student assistant for Cal Fire’s Talent Acquisition and Outreach team, where she continues to grow her skills in social media, graphic design and photography. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in fashion journalism, specifically in layout design.
