A BMX rider slashed open his right leg while negotiating an obstacle near Sacramento State’s American River Courtyard dorms Thursday afternoon.

Jacob Kessler was laid out on a bench with a bandage, provided by a Sac State police officer, wrapped around his calf to stop the bleeding.

Kessler showed no signs of pain and was able to show off his wound.

“I was doing a 180 and when I landed going backwards, my crank broke and flipped up and slashed open my leg,” he said in a calm voice.

No emergency transportation was needed and Kessler was brought to a local hospital by a friend on campus.

Despite the dangers, Kessler and others know the risks and do not plan on suing the university for injuries sustained on campus.
