Sacramento State students had the opportunity to meet with various organizations in the health industry at the Health Career Exploration Fair on Wednesday, March 9.

A total of 34 agencies and institutions, including Prestige Care, Brandman University and Planned Parenthood, were present on campus in the University Union Ballroom to give information about different careers to students.

Junior biology major Thien Nguyen said he talked to various organizations during the fair and even received a job offer from one of the organizations.

“We got to talk to all the organizations we wanted to. They were very helpful,” Nguyen said. “There’s definitely a lot of diversity and information out there.”

Junior occupational health and safety major Leonel Edwards said he learned more than he thought he would at the fair.

“With my major, I didn’t know about a lot of the options that I was eligible to do,” Edwards said. “I found all the requirements, different programs I should get into, internships, as well as where it would be good for work experience.”

However, Yeng Yang, a graduate student majoring in social work, was disappointed to find the lack of non-nursing opportunities.

“[The fair] is useful, but it feels like it’s very limited. It’s directed more towards nursing, so it’s hard for me when I’m not a [nursing] student,” Yang said. “There’s not more variety with it.”

According to the Career Center, 224 students attended the fair on Wednesday.
