Feeling tired or stressed out? There is a spot just for you.

A survey by The Associated Press and mtvU in 2008 found that four in 10 college student were stressed. Because Sacramento State’s priority is its students’ health and academic success, the campus has a lounge where students can go to relax for free.

The Terminal Lounge is that place.

It is the third week of classes and students already have a lot of work to do: homework, papers and even studying for upcoming exams.

Research shows students who suffer stress and are always tired are more likely to fail a class or quit college.

The lounge is equipped with comfortable sofas and TVs where students can choose a variety of multimedia. There is an extensive collection of music ranging from Ricky Martin, Shakira, M.I.A, to Taylor Swift and many more.

“[The Terminal Lounge] is a place to hang out and a more live place because it has music,” said Rhawnie Nepomuceno, a third-year biology major.

Students can also use any of the six private listening rooms. These rooms are equipped with comfy bean bags, where student can take a nap or watch television. The lounge also has a port for students to hook up their phones to listen to their own music.

The rooms are “rented” for free. Students just need their OneCard to book a private and relaxing environment.

Most of the students who go to The Terminal Lounge use the private rooms. If all rooms are taken, students can still hang out in the lounge and listen to music.

Meagan Pham, a third-year biochemistry student, said she would recommend the lounge to any freshman student because it is a nice place they can go and meet new people.

Students like Pham like to use The Terminal Lounge because they feel welcomed by the personnel who always help the students with anything they need.

“The customer service staff is [charming], they always tell us what the lounge is for…it is a very good place to relax,” said Pham.

The Terminal lounge is accessible to everyone.

As first-year student and receptionist Arjelia Maria Rubio explains, students are welcome to come to the lounge and use any of the rooms or TVs. After all, the Terminal Lounge is a place for students where they can take a break from their stressful college life.

The Terminal Lounge is located at the second floor of the University Union. Students can also check out iPhone and Android chargers with their Sac State OneCard, as well as board games such as Monopoly, Taboo and Uno cards.
