Census shows more students choosing Sac Sate
February 25, 2015
The results of the Spring Census show that enrollment at Sac State is currently at 27,696 students for the spring 2015 semester, including 1,561 new undergraduate students, and 186 new graduate students.
“We are targeting about 7,000 new undergraduates and about 1,100 new credential, master’s and doctoral students for fall 2015,” said Ed Mills, vice president of Student Affairs in a press release.
Sac State admitted 1,561 new undergraduate students, and 186 new graduate students for the spring
For the fall 2015 semester, Sac State has seen a 4 percent increase in applications compared to fall 2014, which set records for the highest student enrollment in Sac State history.
“We have nearly 35,000 undergraduate applications for fall 2015 admission,” said Mills. “Our goal is to bring in about 7,000 new undergraduate students this fall – about 1,000 fewer than last fall.”
More students are applying to attend Sac State than the university has space for, according to Mills. Campus impaction has been used to restrict the number of new students attending Sac State in order to provide quality education for students already accepted.
The census also showed that more students are transferring to Sac State from other California State Universities, in addition to community college transfers.
Undergraduate admission notices for fall 2015 will be mailed out on Monday.
