Non-conference woes continued for Sacramento State women’s tennis, where the women dropped their second road match against No. 56 Long Beach State University on Thursday at 6-1.

The Hornets were blanked by the 49ers in doubles as they were swept for the first time in the last eight matches at 8-2 all.

Olivia Boija and Sophie Lohscheidt at the top spot were defeated by the 49ers Ebba Unden and Laura Eales, while Daria Savchenko and Katharina Knoebl were put away by Maeva Razakasoa and Hayley Thompson.

Freshman duo Deimante Bulatovaite and Alina Soltanici were downed by Karolina Rozenberg and Holly Reid to complete the doubles sweep.

Bulatovaite collected the only victory for the Hornets. In singles position No. 6, the freshman forced a tiebreaker match against the 49ers Holly Reid and rallied to defeat her in the third set at 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Senior Katharina Knoebl forced a third set against Hayley Thompson at No. 5, but was overpowered losing at 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-7.

Sac State (7-10) will return to Big Sky Conference play this weekend as they face Northern Colorado and North Dakota on the road.
