The Sacramento State men’s tennis team took down conference rival Idaho State, Sunday at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.

The Hornets were impressive, winning 7-0 and improving to 3-2 in conference play. Worry seems to be fading as the team started off the season 0-2 in Big Sky competition.

Since returning from injury, junior Marek Marksoo has improved to 3-0 in Big Sky competition, and has shown no inclination of slowing down.

Juniors, Roy Brandys and Tom Miller, as well as sophomores, Joaquin Marquez and Niranjan Ram, all won their matches in straight sets.

The Hornets took the doubles point with the team of junior Oliver Andersen and Ram playing at No. 1, and Brandys and freshman Ayman Abdulwahab at No. 3. The victory for the Hornets was the third straight conference match in which they beat their opponent 7-0.

The Hornets have played strong since returning home, and are in the midst of a nine game homestand which will keep the team in Sacramento until the end of March.

The Hornets will look to keep their momentum going with their next four games being played at Sac State. They will play the next two games against the University of Idaho.

The match begins at 2 p.m at Sac State.
