Senior center Josh McCarver’s NCAA Picks

Senior center Josh McCarver made his decision on who he thinks will make the final four in the March Madness tournament and he is going with a big sleeper.

McCarver believes that the University of Kentucky will come out of the South Region to face his big sleeper, No. 12 Long Beach State University.

“It’s always fun to throw a sleeper in there,” McCarver said. “They’ve proven they can beat anybody, so I’m hoping they can surprise a few people this year.”

On the other side of the bracket, McCarver is going with the University of North Carolina and ACC opponent No. 3 Florida State University meeting up and North Carolina coming out on top.

In the championship, McCarver has a North Carolina-Kentucky showdown, but he believes Kentucky will be too much for North Carolina to handle.

“I chose those two for the championship game because they have all of the parts to go deep into the tournament,” McCarver said. “It’s not about winning one or two games. You need to consistently show that you can win consecutive games and both teams have demonstrated that. I have Kentucky as the national champs because I believe that North Carolina will struggle to guard their athleticism for a full forty minutes.”

Freshman Point Guard Dylan Garrity’s NCAA Picks

Freshman point guard Dylan Garrity broke down his March Madness bracket and came out with three No. 1 seeds and one No. 2 seed.

Garrity said the University of Kentucky can be wild sometimes and that is why they will not make it past the University of Missouri.

“(Missouri has) the best guards in the country and are always smart with the ball and get good shots,” Garrity said.

On the other side of the bracket, Garrity had all chalk with the University of North Carolina and Syracuse University meeting up.

Garrity said Syracuse would be too much for North Carolina to handle and they would move on.

And in the championship, Garrity likes Syracuse over Missouri.

“Their defense is too good,” Garrity said. “That zone is impossible to beat. They’re too big and athletic.”
