Restaurants in the River Front Center are set to re-open Thursday after being closed for two weeks, said Brigett Reilly, project and resource development assistant director.

Workers finished repairing the building’s wastewater leak in the crawlspace Tuesday, but food services were unable to re-open immediately because they had not yet received deliveries.

There will be signs posted in front of the center to let students know that it is open, Reilly said.

The center was closed on Feb. 11 when it was discovered that the plumbing had degraded underneath the floor. This condition had gone unnoticed for months or possibly years.

Linda Hafar, utilities and facilities services director, estimated that the center has accumulated $5.12 million in deferred maintenance.

An outside contractor was called in on Feb. 12 and work started immediately.
