Formoli’s has cozy setting

Vickie Johnson

Located in east Sacramento, Formoli’s Bistro, a delightfully, cozy restaurant, made me feel like I was eating somewhere in the hills of San Francisco or Berkeley.

Complete with settings for two and four, each table had a beautiful flower and votive candle, making it subtly romantic.

The menu was small, however, it included delicious items such as mushroom brushchetta and pastas with scallops and Italian sausage. There were also different types of sandwiches such as the Pancetta Sandwich, the Whiskey Burger (yes it was under the “sandwich” menu believe it or not), and what I ordered, Formoli’s Chicken Sandwich.

Formoli’s Chicken Sandwich was absolutely delicious and came with a small salad of mixed greens drizzled with a champagne vinaigrette, almonds and asiago cheese. The sandwich included grilled chicken pieces with lettuce and a sweet sauce that covered both the chicken and the lettuce. The sandwich was served on an Italian roll and it complemented all of the flavors of the sandwich well.

The bread of the sandwich was soft and fluffy and tasted as if it just came out fresh from the oven.

The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and personable. And there was not a moment in my meal where I was left without a full glass of water.

Along with my food I decided to get a raspberry flavored Italian soda and it was so sweet and frothy, it truly topped off the delicious meal.

The ambiance of the restaurant was very quaint and seemed perfect for a quiet intimate dinner with a significant other, perfect for any man to impress his lady.

The food was a bit pricy, however what I chose was full of flavor and I really enjoyed the savoring tastes of my meal.

I loved how all the customers upon sitting at their tables received bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, it was a perfect reminder that you were at an Italian restaurant.

Formoli’s Restaurant is located at 3260 J Street.
