New Oasis album takes you back

I am pretty sure we can say that the Beatles were a big hit. I can honestly say that having the same taste in music as my mother (when it comes to the Beatles of course) gives me absolutely no shame.

When I heard the first track to Oasis’ new album, “Dig out Your Soul,” I was thinking, “Wow they really sound like the Beatles.”

I wouldn’t go so far as to say they are a spitting image of the Beatles, however the band influenced them, along with the Rolling Stones, The Who and even The Kinks. In most of their songs you can hear the 60’s and 70’s influence of the tambourine, drums and guitar playing acoustically, which gives off a kind of folk influence.

When I hear the first song to an album, I totally judge the whole record. It’s like the first paragraph to an essay, you want it to be the best, and hook the audience.

When I heard the first song, “Bag it up” I totally felt as though I was back in the 70’s at a rock concert. True, I may not have been alive then, but I am guessing that good music would have sound like this song.

Oasis’ music really captures that old sound of rock; the kind you listen to when you are on a long trip in your car and you just want to relax and listen to something that makes you feel good.

“Dig Out Your Soul” is the group’s eighth album. The group became popular in Britain, being compared to the infamous Beatles in 1994, and has continued their work in the United States today with this album.

“Get off Your High Horse Lady” has got to be my favorite track. The singing that is taking place sounds as though it is coming through a vintage radio and you can really feel the anger of singer Liam Gallagher.

This song, for some reason reminds me of “Come Together” by the Beatles. It has a beat that you find yourself bobbing your head to even after the song ends.

Most of the songs on the album contain the same instruments, complete with drums, tambourines, guitars and even sometimes the violin.

I am not sure that there is something on this album that could constitute as an all time hit, but it really does give off a great “chill” vibe and it is easy on the ears and great to “rock out” to.

So, Oasis fans, get some bell-bottom jeans, put some flowers in your hair and listen to their new album; you will totally feel like a “rock star.”
