MOJO: Video game tournament

Students competed in a video game tournament in the University Union game room today.

This was the game room’s first tournament since it switched from stand-up arcade games to console games earlier in the semester, said game room employee Meaghann McGovern. In the past, the game room has held tournaments for billiards and ping pong, but not video games.

The tournament pitted students against each other, with contests playing Madden 2009, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and Soul Calibur IV.

Besides bragging rights, first prize in the Madden tournament was a $65 gift card to Game Crazy, a video games store. Second prize was a $30 gift certificate to the Hornet Bookstore. Anyone who participated would win something, said Matt Greene, campus representative for Dell.
