Budget passed, CSU waits for final figures

State legislators passed a budget today, more than 80 days late. Final figures for the California State University’s budgets will soon be in place and Sacramento State faculty and administrators can make decisions for the next year.

On Sept. 18, the faculty senate met for the first time this semester. Bob Buckley, computer sciences lecturer and University Budget Advisory Committee member, briefed the senate on the likely position of the CSU system.

After initial cuts were announced earlier this year, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger restored nearly $100 million in funds to the CSU system, bringing funding to the same level as last year.

These cuts will impact Sac State, but to what extent is not yet clear.

The State Hornet will update as more information is available.
