The No. 46 Sacramento State women’s tennis team defeated Northern Colorado 6-1 Monday at Work Out West in Colorado.

Juniors Luba Schifris, Joyce Martinez Gutierrez, Karina Jarlkaganova and Anastassia Lyssenko and sophomore Aileen Tsan won singles matches for the Hornets, who finished Big Sky Conference play 8-0 and are now 16-4 overall.

The Hornets were without their No. 1 player, sophomore Katrina Zheltova, who hasn’t played since March 9 against Oregon.

“She’s recovered from an injury and should be back soon,” Director of Tennis Bill Campbell said.

Schifris and Jarlkaganova defeated Jodi Ciarvella and Karne Groll 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles match and Tsan and Lyssenko defeated Tiffany Knop and Luiza Xavier 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles match.

The Hornets will play San Francisco at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
