Men’s tennis falls just short in title game, loses 4-3 to Eastern Washington

The Sacramento State men’s tennis team lost to Eastern Washington 4-3 Sunday in the Big Sky Conference Championship game at Gold River Racquet Club in Sacramento.

Freshman Kiryl Harbatsiuk, sophomore Anton Stryhas and junior Sven-David Rueff won singles matches for the Hornets, providing the only points on the day.

Eastern Washington won the doubles point with victories form Kyle Schraeder and Pannhara Mam in the No. 1 match and Art Karas and Nico Riego de Dios in the No. 3 match.

The overall match was tied 3-3 with the No. 3 singles battle between freshman Artur Klimenka and Riego De Dios the last to finish. Klimenka led 4-3 in the final set after they split the first two but Diego De Dios won three straight sets for the victory.

During the regular season match, the Hornets won 4-3.

The Hornets streak of 18 straight wins against conference opponents ended with the loss and their overall record this season was 16-8.
