The Hornet baseball team dropped a decision to the UC Davis Aggies across the causeway in Davis, 8-7. The Aggies rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring three runs and the eventual game-winner.

Aggies’ second baseman Rikki Foster was credited with the game-winning RBI when he singled home pinch runner Daniel Cepin. Hornet left-handed pitcher Tommy Elrod (0-2) was charged with the loss, as the team’s record drop to 15-18. Davis improves their record to 24-11 on the season with the victory.

Senior third baseman David Flores put on a show at the plate as he hit two home runs to go along with four RBIs. He now has five homers on the season. Sophomore Tim Wheeler also performed nicely with the stick as he went 4 for 5 with three singles, a double and two runs scored. He also stole his sixth bag of the year.

The Hornets will be back on the diamond when they host the Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans at 2 p.m. Friday at Hornet Field for the first installment of a four-game series.
