Sacramento State defeated UC Davis 6-1 in a battle for bragging rights of the causeway. The Hornets swept doubles play and were 5-1 in singles play.

“They’ve been focusing for a while on this match,” Sacramento State Director of Tennis Bill Campbell said.

Kiryl Harbatsiuk, Anton Stryhas, Artur Klimenka, Holden Ching and Sven-David Rueff won singles matches as the Hornets improved their record to 3-2.

After Ching secured the win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, Rueff finished the final victory 6-2, 6-2.

“We expected a tough match but we won pretty cleanly,” Rueff said.

The Hornets face Pacific Sunday in Stockton, Calif. At 1 p.m.
