The Sacramento State men’s tennis team crushed Pacific 7-0 Monday afternoon at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club to improve to 16-4 on the season, while Pacific dropped to 2-16.

The doubles were led by No. 2 Hague Van Dillen and Xavier Barajas-Smith, who won their ninth match in a row together, winning 8-3. Van Dillen served and volleyed well while Barajas-Smith ripped forehand winners from all over the court.

“Our different type of game styles were working well today,” Barajas-Smith said.

In other doubles action, No. 1 Anton Stryhas and Gabriel Loredo won 8-4 and at No. 3, Tim Lantin and Warwick Foy won 8-1.

Sac State’s No. 6 singles player Miguel Camino marked up a win 6-2, 6-2. In the last match of his Sac State career, he got his first victory of the season. The win was even more special because his dad came from Ecuador to witness it.

Stryhas played at No. 1 Monday and won 6-3, 6-3. No. 2 Barajas-Smith was too much for his opponent and won 6-1, 6-2. Loredo won easily 6-1, 6-1, while No. 4 Foy won 6-4, 6-0.

“I got in his head and watched him crumble,” Foy said.

At No. 5, Tim Lantin played well and used his preseason tournament experience to bury his opponent.

Sac State’s next opponent is its rival, the UC Davis Aggies. The match will be played at 1 p.m. at Davis on Friday.
