The California Faculty association held it’s Sacramento chapter meeting to deal with the issues of getting ready for the potential strike.

Jason Conwell a faculty representative said there will be tables in the library on Monday in order for members of the union to vote on whether the union should strike or not.

“The goal is to have faculty members at the tables,” Conwell said, ” Check to see if the people coming to vote are members of the union, if they are, then check them off the list, if they are not then get them to fill out the registration card, and they become members on the spot.”

Kevin Wehr, who is an assistant professor in the sociology department said it is important to show how many people are voting to approve the strike, because then maybe the strike can be avoided.

“We have the GOTV campaign, which is the get out the vote campaign, and the stronger the turnout is for voting on Monday and Tuesday the more likely it is that we will not have to go on strike,” Wehr said.

Wehr added that fliers have been passed out to all faculty members to give them information on where they should go to vote, and when the vote will take place.

Alice Sunshine who is the media representative for the CFA came to talk to the Sacramento chapter to praise the work that they have done to get people involved in this pending issue.
