You can run, but you can’t hide – it’s swimsuit season

Women come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, body-types are often classified as a type of fruit or object: pear-shaped, apple-bottom, hourglass or somewhere in-between.

Whatever the shape, most women think they have at least one “problem area” as well as one or two “assets.”

And the dreaded, bare-all season has finally arrived- swimsuit season. So get ready to disguise those problems and bare those assets.

No matter the trends that come and go, finding a suit that flatters your figure is the key element to looking fashionable.

It doesn’t matter if white looks good with your bronzed skin tone. If too much of you is hanging out in the wrong place in a bright white bikini, people will notice your flaws instead of your “oh la la’s.”

“For people who are smaller on top, choose triangle-top bathing suits that have ruffles… makes you look bigger on top,” said Sacramento State senior, Melissa Greiner, who works in the fashion industry.

Though ruffles have traditionally been reserved for young pig-tailed girls with waterwings, this year’s hottest collections have added a sexy touch to the youthful frills.

This swimsuit shows the way ruffles are being used this season to give a sexy edge to an innocent concept.

For bigger busted women, support is key. Underwire provides not only support and comfort, but also gives those babies a nice lift in the right direction. Click here to view bathing suit.

Trying to fit large breasts into a small top is not flattering and proves risky to active swimmers.

Another trend catching on quickly is the cut-out suit. It has the look of a one piece, with skin-baring elements of a two-piece. This swimsuit is great for girls with an hour-glass body type, as it shows off the waist.Click here to view.

“Cut-outs are hot. Plus you can flaunt and conceal at the same time,” said fashion designer and realtor Jill Martin of Fremont. “Always keep them wanting more.”

Once again, pay close attention to the shape of your body. String bikinis are not for everyone. In fact, they aren’t right for most people.

“Unless you have buns of steel, don’t wear bottoms tied with just a string. Opt for a scoop bottom,” said Greiner.

The em-“bare-ass”-ment risk is cut down as well.

When it comes to colors and patterns, this summer has a lot of polka-dots and crazy patterns. From animal prints to mis-matched top and bottoms, this summer is about creativity and confidence.

So grab that swimsuit, and head to the pool or river to enjoy the 90 weather that has suddenly sprung up.
