With all the new spring clothing and shoe lines coming out, it’s also time to start looking at spring makeup styles. Here is a guide to finding new makeup ideas to match your new spring look.

Maggie Thach, makeup artist for M.A.C. Cosmetics in Sunrise Mall said, “It’s all about skin for the spring and summer.” She said the point is to make your skin glow and look as natural and clear as possible, without making it look like you are actually wearing any makeup.

From the M.A.C. line, Thach recommends M.A.C. Studio Fix and Blot Powder to obtain that natural look. InStyle.com listed matte bronzed skin as one of the looks for this season.

A good foundation is always important to achieve great looking skin. These are the top 10 foundations listed on iVillage.com by reader survey. Bare Essentials bareMinerals Foundation, Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, M.A.C. Studio Fix, Mary Kay Cream to Powder Foundation, L’Oreal Quick Stick Instant Foundation, Mary Kay Day Radiance Oil Free Foundation, Almay Skin Stays Clean Oil-Free Foundation, Cover Girl Clean Liquid Make-Up, Maybelline Express 3 in 1 Cream Stick and Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil Free Makeup. These options have higher end products and products that fit right into a student’s budget.

“There is no wrong or right way to do makeup. You can’t tell someone that just because they have dark eyes, you cannot wear dark colors. You can wear whatever you want. What is important is how you apply it and what colors you blend,” Thach said.

So what colors should you be buying this season? Thach said this spring’s colors are lavender, yellow and orange. InStyle.com said to use dewy pastels like soft pink and lavender around the eyes. InStyle.com also said “teal eyes” as another look for this season. According to InStyle.com “shimmer keeps the makeup from looking flat and dated.”

Thach said a lot of her customers prefer lip gloss over lipstick. “The shiny shimmery look is always in,” she said. She recommends that a light shade of lipstick or lip gloss be used with dark eye shadow to balance out the face. InStyle.com listed berry colored lips for this spring.

So remember, this spring, the focus is on skin and pastel colors. Add this with your own personal flair and your spring look should be just right.
