Hornets gearing for encounter with NAU

Sacramento State will host Big Sky Conference foe Northern Arizona University at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. It will be the second conference match of the season for the Hornets after a scoreless tie at Portland State in their Big Sky opener on Sunday.

For the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, this match will be their first Big Sky Conference competition this season. The Lumberjacks will travel to Sacramento with a 3-6-3 record overall.

Like the Hornets, Northern Arizona saw its two game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 2-1 loss to No. 20 University of Denver. Before the loss the Lumberjacks notched back-to-back wins, 5-1 over Valparaiso and 4-0 over Southern Utah.

Offensively, the Lumberjacks are led by freshman Jesyca Rosholt and senior Sierra Cristiano. Rosholt leads the team with six goals on the season.Cristiano, the 2002 Big Sky conference Co-offensive player of the year, leads the team with seven assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Berra has played every minute so far this season, while earning two shutouts and a goals against average of 1.26.
