Brothers Wood propose 10 new ASI resolutions

Increased promotion of student radio, a committee geared towardsstudent parking issues and homecoming awards will be the topicsvoted on at today’s Associated Students, Inc. Board ofDirectors meeting.

Ten of the 17 pieces of new legislation scheduled for themeeting have been proposed by Vice President of Finance Luke Woodand Vice President of University Affairs Joshua Wood.

ASI President Peter Ucovich is sponsoring legislation regardingbroadcasting Sacramento State radio station, KSSU, aroundcampus.

If passed, ASI would forward recommendations to the CSUSFoundation and the University Union to broadcast KSSU throughoutcampus, including the Riverfront Center, the library quad andaround the perimeter of the Union.

According to the legislation, Ucovich hopes that, “(ASI)will be increasing the number of students listening to KSSU as wellas participation from students.” The legislation also aims topromote student and University activities, such as sporting eventsand concerts.

KSSU is a student-run radio station funded by ASI. Student DJsproduce and host a variety of on-air programs, such as talk showsand live broadcasts from Hornet athletic events.

The station broadcasts during the fall and spring. Luke alsowants an ad-hoc committee to research parking issues. Ucovich,Joshua, two other board members and two students at large wouldserve on the committee that would be chaired by Luke.

After continued discussion with faculty and administration, Lukesaid he feels that it is “imperative to take direct actionagainst the current parking situation.”

This legislation was prompted by a recent announcement that theuniversity will be placing holds on registration for those studentswho have outstanding parking citations. The registration holds willbecome effective next semester.

A resolution of congratulations to the 2003 homecoming king andqueen will be issued. Izran Nalleh and Sophia Alvov will be awarded$200 each on their OneCard as a sign of gratitude for theirdemonstration of school spirit, academic excellence and campusknowledge.

The brothers Wood are calling for the deletion of severaloperating rules, including one that makes ASI responsible forproviding and managing a community garden on campus.

An open forum will be held prior to addressing new business.Students can comment on items both on and off the agenda.

The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the UniversityUnion Foothill Suite.
