Women’s soccer will next host California State University, Northridge at noon this Sunday, Sept. 28 at Hornet Soccer Field. The match will be the first game of a doubleheader shared with the men’s soccer team.

The Hornets (2-4) are coming off an exciting 2-1 double overtime victory last Sunday at the University of Nevada-Reno. Junior Jenae Kee scored both goals for the Hornets, including the game-winner, coming on a double overtime penalty shot after striker Kelly Novak was fouled in the box.

Kee is now tied with freshman Lisamarie La Valle for the team lead in goals with two. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Sacramento State.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-3-2) will travel to the University of San Francisco on Friday for a match before making the trip to Sacramento State.

The Matadors are coming off a 2-2 tie with No. 8 Navy (7-0-1) last Sunday. The Hornets opened their season with a 2-1 loss to visiting Navy on Aug. 29.

The Matadors are led by freshman forward Elena Alvarenga and sophomore forward Leila Pate, who lead the team with two goals each. Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Jasper, who has posted shutouts in their two wins against Long Island University and Gonzaga University, anchors the defense.
