Kline jumps into ASI presidential race

Brandon Kline, the current Chief of Staff for ASI President Eric Guerra, has announced plans to run for the office of ASI President in next month’s elections.

Kline will run on a platform of giving every Sacramento State student a voice in ASI. He feels ASI needs some “fresh blood” and a definitive “shake-up.”

Kline cited a parking plan, fighting against fee increases and building a campus arena as the major pillars of his campaign. He said he has a “team” of like-minded, though diverse, candidates aligned with him.

“Fees will not increase on my clock,” Kline said.

Kline has outlined a plan of attack that would build a coalition between the UC system, the CSU system and state community colleges to fend off fee hikes. He feels a united body of all state students could better defend against fee increases.

Kline is also focused on building campus pride, citing the lack of a Sac State flag. He wants to create a UN-style flagpole area, which would have three tall flagpoles — one displaying the U.S. flag, one with the California flag and one displaying a Sac State flag. Kline would organize a campus-wide contest to produce a design for that flag.

Potential candidates for ASI office can file papers until March 28. Campaigning will begin March 31 and the elections are on April 29-30.
