The highest-paid instructors on campus earn up to $101,712 annually, according to university data.

Instructors at CSUS fall under two payroll categories: academic year instructional faculty and 12-month instructional faculty. Academic year (AY) instructors receive an equal paycheck throughout the year and are paid extra if they choose to teach during the winter and summer sessions.

Instructors under the twelve-month payroll conduct other important tasks besides teaching. One of their duties is accreditation. This involves the arrival of outside organizations that ascertain whether certain departments meet up-to-date academic standards. These instructors may also work as program coordinators.

“It is an academic plus to see that programs are on the cutting edge,” said David Wagner, Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs. The highest-paid CSUS instructors work in the business administration college.

“Overall, faculty are working hard to help students through their education,” said professor of marketing and department chair of Business Administration Management Dr. Ming-Tung Lee.

The highest paid instructors under the 12-month instructional payroll are: Prof. Stanley W. Barrick, Learning Skills Dept.; Prof. Susie D. McKee, Learning Skills Dept.; Prof. Janie C. Low, Education/Credentials Dept.; Prof. Gregory R. Wheeler, Academic Affairs; and Prof. Roger W. Bartlett, Business Administration Accountancy.

The five highest paid AY instructors at CSUS are: Prof. Francois Cheong-Siat-Moy, Civil Engineering and Computer Science; Prof. Haroldene F. Wunder, Business Administration Accountancy; Prof. Craig A. Kelley, Business Administration Management; Prof. Ralph B. Hwang, Civil Engineering and Computer Science; and Prof. Gail K. Tom, Business Administration Management.

“Professor Kelley’s teaching style is extremely useful to students — he brings people from the business world into the classroom to share their insight and experiences,” said Jon Eliskovich, a senior in Business Administration Finance.

The annual salaries of the 10 instructors range from $84,000 to $101,712.
