ASI officers eyeing 2004 ASI presidency

Associated Students, Inc. Executive Vice President Luke Wood will face off against ASI Vice President of Finance Peter Ucovich in the ASI presidential race, according to the candidates.

Neither candidate has filed papers to run yet.

ASI bylaws state potential candidates for executive office and director positions have a 90-day window to submit their candidacy, Ucovich said.

Eligible students can first declare candidacy four months before the election date and the deadline is 30 days prior to the election, Ucovich said.

Before serving as the Executive Vice President this year, Wood served on ASI’s Board of Directors as the Director of Natural Sciences and Mathematics during the 2001-2002 school year.

At one board meeting in March 2002, Wood left a meeting, charging the Board of “elitism” when three pieces of Wood’s legislation were shot down. Wood has accused ASI’s “elite” several times of being the “administration’s puppets.”

The ASI elections are in April.
