Campus police responded to a bomb threat in Sacramento Hall last Wednesday that still has campus authorities wondering of the intent of the suspect.

At approximately 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, a call came in to warn about a bomb that was to go off in 12 minutes in Sacramento Hall.

In less than three minutes after the call came in, University Police were on the scene.

Seven employee’s were evacuated from the hall while officers did a visual check for the bomb.

Police found nothing after searching the offices on each floor of the building.

The call was traced back to the first floor of Sacramento Hall and a witness came forward and identified 26-year-old David Shadman as the caller.

Shadman was inside the building when police arrived.

He was taken into custody and booked into Sacramento County Jail on charges of false report of a bomb.

“As far as we know, Shadman is not a student Sacramento State,” said Public Information Officer John Hamrick.

Sacramento Hall closes daily at 5:30 p.m. with most employees leaving at 5:00 p.m.

Shadman did not tell police why he made the call or how he got into the building.

“He did not say where he placed the device, but said it would be inside the building,” said Hamrick.
