College hosts gala in celebration of 20th anniversary

The College of Health and Human Services will host a gala to honor some of its alumni as the department marks its 20th anniversary on Sat., May 4th.

The gala, which will begin at 6 p.m. will be held at the Steven Lee Yamshon Alumni Center.

The evening?s event will include dinner, dancing, and a recognition ceremony along with a silent auction.

The department?s Dean, Marilyn Hopkins, will be on hand to welcome guests and then turn the evening over to Marianne McClary, morning anchor of “Good Day Sacramento”, who will be the master of ceremony that night.

More than 25,000 students have graduated with a degree from the College of Health and Human Services, who house degrees in criminal justice, recreation and leisure studies, kinesiology and health science to name a few.

The department has the largest criminal justice program on the West Coast and also offers a master?s degree program in social work, speech pathology and audiology, and physical therapy.

One of the honored alumni will be nursing graduate Mary Baker, owner of the successful local home health care agency Chicken Soup Plus.
