Tsunami: A storm is coming

Cindy Vincent

Every true punk rock fan from northern California has at least heard of Tsunami Bomb?if not seen them in concert.

Their background story is pretty cut and dry which is a major contrast to their stage presence and attitudes toward punk rock.

Tsunami Bomb originated in San Francisco in 1998 with lead singer Agent M, keyboardist Oobliette, drummer Gabrel 37, guitarist Mike and bassist Dominick.

The band is one of the more original punk rock bands in northern California, mainly because of the powerful female vocalist that fronts for the band.

Tsunami Bomb has had an interesting twist on ways to promote music. They have never previously released a CD until this year with “The Invasion From Within,” which features six songs consisting of brand new songs as well as some oldie-but-goodies.

From first hand knowledge, I know how hard it is to score a Tsunami Bomb album since they’re all on vinyl. But when you can get your hands on one, it is definitely worth the search.

Due to the new album, Tsunami Bomb is hitting the road again, drifting across the country for the fourth time on tour. They won’t premiere in Sacramento, but they will perform in San Francisco on Saturday, April 7 with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the Bottom of the Hill.

They will also play in Berkley at Gilman St. Project on Friday, May 11 with Subincision, Next to Nothing, Thrice, and Average Joe.

Their biggest show in Northern California will be on Saturday, May 12 at the Cactus Club in San Jose.

“What the ? Fest” is an all day concert beginning at 3:30 p.m., and will be featuring a ton of northern California talents such as The Rebounds, Moodfrye, Next to Nothing, Luckie Strike, Logan Whitehurst & the Jr. Science Club and Agent 51.

In addition, Happy Campers, Curbsde, Sick Shift, Indecisive Youth, Evenground, Prop 808, and Eugene are on the marquee.
