International Women’s Day Celebration

The Second Annual International Women’s Day Celebration will be held inthe Ballroom of the University Union from noon to 2 p.m., thisWednesday, March 21.

This multicultural, women’s celebration is free to everyone and issponsored by UNIQUE and the Women?s Resource Center.

There will be several groups performing during the two-hour eventincluding, the Sacramento Tiko Dan Drummers, Capoeira, a martial artsand modern dance group, and Epic Voices, a Filipino-American R & B groupfrom San Francisco.

In honor of Women’s Day, the groups that have been invited to perform,all consist of women, even though traditionally groups such as theseprimarily consist of men.

Women?s Day is actually March 8, but the celebration was not scheduledon that day to avoid conflict with the blood drive.

“The purpose of this event is to honor women from everywhere and itsounds like we have some very talented women performing at this event,”said Dean Sorenson, program advisor for UNIQUE.
