The Orion String Quartet will open stage for the second annual New Millennium Concert Series here at Sac State on Mon., Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. in the Musical Recital Hall.

It was in 1987 when the Orion String Quartet gained immediate attention in the world of music and since then it has never lost it?s touch in the eyes of many. It has been praised for it?s high approach to concert programming.

Members of the Quartet include two brothers, both violinists, Daniel and Todd Philips, violist Steven Tenenbom, and cellist Timothy Eddy. They?ve all worked with the likes of Pablo Casals, Rudolph Serkin, and Isaac Stern just to name a few.

Continuing to perform in the world?s largest concert halls, this is the beginning of the second decade for the Quartet. Come this April the Quartet will be touring in major cities like Washington D.C. and Philadelphia.

The Quartet has been heard on National Public Radios, Performance Today, and has even appeared on Good Morning America twice.

Some recordings that will be heard on Monday include “At the Octoroon Balls” and “American”.

During this spring season, the Quartet will perform its music at various universities across the country, such as the University of Hawaii and Humboldt State University.

So come on out and hear for yourself what an amazing show this Quartet puts on. Tickets for individual concerts are $15 and are available either at the ticket office on campus, (916) 278-4323 or at Tickets.com, (916) 766-2277.
