Dance/Art presents a sizzling guitar and chilly dances

Dale Scholl Dance/Art continues its 19th season March 7, with “Hot Guitar, Cool Dance,” a program that promises the finest in innovative professional dance.

The dancers will perform to a variety of unique works ranging from lighthearted and quirky to passionate and mystical.

Signature pieces by renowned guitarists inspire new works of choreography by Dance/Art?s Artistic Director Dale Scholl, Choreographer-in-Residence Eric Vianelle and newcomer Joseph Candelaria, a principal dancer with the company.

“Hot Guitar, Cool Dance” features the jazz flavored music of Django Reinhardt, considered by many to be the most influential guitarist of the 20th Century, as well as the hot licks of Latin rocker Carlos Santana and the exquisite mastery of classical artist John Williams.Dale Scholl Dance/Art has been at the vanguard of dance in the Sacramento region since 1982.

The company?s eclectic style, ranging from modern ballet to hip-hop with stops at every genre in-between, is showcased through its ingenious, critically acclaimed choreography.The program will be performed in the Sacramento State Dancespace Theatre, which is located in Solano Hall 1010.

The opening show on March 7 will continue through March 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24. All shows begin at 8:00 p.m.
