Starbucks voted ‘Best Coffee Shop’ in 2020 Best of Sac State poll
Does Starbucks have the best drinks on campus?
To no one’s surprise, Starbucks was voted the “Best Coffee Shop” on Sacramento State’s campus in The State Hornet’s annual Best of Sac State poll.
Although campus eateries closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students still have fond memories of visiting their favorite coffee franchise.
Currently, the only place still open to get Starbucks drinks on campus is the Courtyard Market by the residence halls.
Hailey LaBar, a psychology major at Sac State, said she used to get Starbucks twice a week while on campus. She said that white mochas were her favorite drinks because of the sweet flavor and the energy it gave her during classes.
“It’s my favorite coffee place because I’m familiar with the menu, and I love the flavor of their coffee,” LaBar said.
Music education major Layla Dean, who is a vegan, said that her go-to Starbucks drink is the Pink Drink.
“It’s refreshing,” Dean said. “I feel ‘basic’ whenever I get it but I don’t drink coffee anymore because it upsets my stomach, and also it’s vegan without any substitutions so I never feel inconvenient or worried they’re gonna mess it up.”
Dean said that she previously would have chosen Java City over Starbucks, but chose Starbucks because she does not drink coffee anymore.
Teresa Nolasco, a child development major, went to Starbucks on campus every day she had class. Her favorite Starbucks location was the one at the River Front Center. Nolasco said that it depends on the day, but her favorite drink is either the iced chai tea or the guava white tea lemonade.
“Starbucks is my go to place to get drinks because you can never go wrong,” Nolasco said. “Every drink I’ve ever had there is so yummy.”
